Calculation of the premises and buildings categories on fire explosive and fire danger. Calculation of zone classes on the REEI requirements

Definition of the premises and buildings categories on fire explosive and fire danger should be used in design-budget and operational documentation on buildings, premises and external installations.

The premises and buildings categories of the enterprises and establishments are defined at a design stage of buildings and constructions.

Requirements of norms to external installations should be considered in projects on building, expansion, reconstruction and modernization, at changes of technological processes and at operation of external installations.

In the field of explosion hazard estimation allocate categories fire-explosive-danger premises and buildings which more detailed classification by explosion hazard and necessary protective actions should be regulated by independent standard documents.

It is necessary to apply the premises and buildings categories to an establishment of standard requirements on maintenance fire explosive and fire safety of the specified premises and buildings concerning a lay-out and building, number of storeys, areas, placing of premises, constructive decisions, engineering equipment.

The premises are subdivided into categories A, B, C1 – C4, D, and E, and the buildings are subdivided on categories A, B, C, D, and E on fire explosive and fire danger.

The external installations are subdivided into categories of An, Bn, Cn, Dn, and En on fire danger.
Definition of classes of explosive and fire-dangerous zones is connected with calculations of categories of buildings and premises on fire explosive and fire danger by rules of electrical equipment installation (REEI requirements).

Fire explosive and fire danger categories of premises and buildings are defined for the most adverse concerning a fire or period explosion, proceeding from a kind being in devices and premises of combustible substances and materials, their quantity and fire-dangerous properties, features of technological processes.

Fire danger categories of external installations are defined, proceeding from a kind of combustible substances being in external installations and materials, their quantity and fire-dangerous properties, features of technological processes.

Definition of fire-dangerous properties of substances and materials is made on the basis of results of tests or calculations by standard techniques taking into account condition parameters (pressure, temperature etc.).

The basic standard document for definition of zone classes is rules of electrical equipment installation (REEI requirements). The given document defines following zone classes:

Explosive-dangerous (E-I, E-Ia, E-Ib, E-Id, E-II, E-IIa);

Fire-dangerous (F-I, F-II, F-IIa, F-III).

The zone class influences execution of the electro-installations working in the given zone and in zones connected with given zone.

Optimum to make calculations by definition of categories of buildings and premises on fire explosive and fire danger and definition of zone classes in common that allows lowering financial expenses for calculations.
